Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams lead the Packers to 43-34 opening week win over the Minnesota Vikings in an empty US Bank stadium Sunday afternoon.
Rodgers getting old… Says who? The 36-year-old Quarterback put up what has been touted a “vintage” performance in Sunday’s win. He ended the game with 32-of-44 passes completed for 364 yards, four touchdowns and not a single turnover or sack.
Davante Adams showed why he is Wide Receiver No. 1 on the roster. He tied Don Hutson’s Packers’ single-game record with 14 catches, reeling in most of his 17 targets. Adams ended the game with 156 yards and two touchdowns.
The run-based offense that head coach Matt LaFleur has implemented did its part as well. They rushed the ball 32 times for 158 yards. Running back Aaron Jones accounted for 16 of those carries, totaling 66 yards.
Despite a defense that allowed 24 points in the fourth quarter, the Packers defenders held Minnesota to just 10 points at halftime. Jaire Alexander recorded an interception late in the second quarter that resulted in Rodgers hitting Marquez Valdes-Scantling on a 45-yard touchdown two plays later.
The Packers will play in Lambeau for the first time this season next Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Kickoff is scheduled for 20:00 p.m. CST.
