On Friday, Jan. 24, Fruition will play The Back Room @ Colectivo with special guest The Mighty Pines as part of their four-week tour of the Midwest and Northeast.

Members include Jay Cobb Anderson (electric guitar, vocals), Kellen Asebroek (vocals, keys, acoustic guitar), Jeff Leonard (bass), Mimi Naja (mandolin, guitar, vocals) and Tyler Thompson (drums). The band met in Portland in the mid-2000s and since have opened for Jack Johnson, the Wood Brothers, and Greensky Bluegrass.

Fruition combines acoustic, rock ‘n’ roll and R&B, distinguishing themselves as having a style that goes far beyond a single genre.

“Fruition sounds like your favorite meal tastes. There is truly something in our music for everyone,” Asebroek says, “We get down with a lot of different styles, but it’s all cohesive and paired thoughtfully. Like your favorite meal.”

The band recently released their album “Wild As The Night,” described on the band’s website as conveying “the emotions of our darkest, and sometimes weakest, moments.” The album’s first single, titled the same as the album, offers a harmonic blend of vocals over a soft acoustic-rock background.

“Touring is a special kind of breeding ground for the absolute best of times and the most heart-wrenching of times,” Asebroek reflects. “You learn a lot about gratefulness and the extremes of how beautiful and awful life can be.” The tracks on “Wild As The Night” perfectly encapsulate these ups and downs of being on the road and simultaneously express the highs and lows of going through life.

This Friday, the band releases their companion album entitled “Broken at The Break of Day,” one week before their performance at The Back Room @ Colectivo. They released two singles, “Dawn” and “Where Can I Turn,” from the upcoming album thus far.

“I’m definitely looking forward to playing these songs live, letting the record grow legs, and seeing who gets their hands on it, who digs it, and what kind of places heretofore unknown it might take us,” Asebroek said.

Tickets are available at the Pabst Theater’s website for $16 or can be purchased on the day of the show for $20. It is general admission and doors open at 7 p.m. for the show starts at 7:30 p.m.
