Today: Sunday begins at a beautiful, though overcast, mid-60s with some wind of 9 mph from north off the lake. Winds during the day top a gusty 23 mph, while the average will remain calmer around 9 mph from the northeast as the high-pressure system descends from the north. The lake will be breezier than inland, so overall a possibly good day for kites and outdoor activities in the afternoon and evening. A probable drop or two of rain can fall between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., but these are fleeting showers, if anything. Around 3 p.m. we see a high of 74 inland and a cooler high 60s by the beach. Clouds are expected to move out towards the evening as we cool off, leaving us with a pleasant sunset to end the day.

Tonight: Temperatures fall to 65 by 9 p.m. with a bearable 60 low for the night, but a bit warmer towards the lake seeing as Lake Michigan is a warm 68 degrees. Winds calm during the night, seldom reaching 9 mph, but again it will be breezier by the lake. Sunday night will be prime time for a summer bonfire or early night get-together.

Tomorrow: The work week is welcomed by a nice sunrise and high 60s as the morning commute looks quite easy. Highs reach upper 70s with a cooler lakeside as an eastern wind tempers the heat, gusts higher in the morning at 21 mph, but average winds keep to a nicer 7 mph. Later in the day, clouds will gather as a weakened storm system will pass with a whisper, bringing the odd raindrop to the area, expectedly around 6 or 7 p.m. With the sun exiting in the west and the clouds clearing slowly, the sun rest wrapped in a blanket of clouds. The temperature will reach a comfortable low 60s as the lake keeps us from the cool of the night. A few clouds plague the night, but begin to gather in the west with the rising of the sun Tuesday.

Climate Prediction Center 6-10 Day Temperature Outlook; valid July 20-24

Tuesday, 6/22: The sun rises without much of clouds, but as the day continues fluffy clouds turn into plumes and knit together in the afternoon and late evening harboring a bit of rain. No storms are expected according to current models. Before the passing of a wandering rain system, we warm into the low 80s, thanks to turning of the winds to be entering from the south. A high-pressure system in the southern U.S. will be experiencing a “heat dome” effect, where above average temperatures will persist for several days. We can expect to see temps reach the upper 80s and into the 90s for a few days this week, as the positioning of this system will cater the warmth north. Winds will blow with a steady speed of 9 mph and gust up to 26 mph. The night cools to 66 degrees as winds continue to bring warmth from the south.

Wednesday & Thursday 6/23-24: A balmy 88 lies in the future Wednesday as the wind becomes stronger from the southwest, gusts topping 25 mph and averaging 11 mph. A low of mid 70s is possible. Models are at odds a bit about the arrival of a low-pressure system, so Wednesday and Thursday might be riddled with thunderstorms later in the afternoon and evening. Thursday can reach highs of upper 80s again as a wind of 11 mph, with gusts of 21 mph, shoves more warm air northward. Thursday is currently forecasted at a low of 70, but models and forecasts change, so stay up to date with the latest forecasts for your area!
