Today: The 5-Day Forecast for July 29, 2025 begins with a generally damp and warm mid-70s for the morning commute. A rain system from Monday overshadows the sunrise as it blows east with a few gusts over 10 mph. Over the course of the day though, clouds lessen towards the lake. A line of clouds will linger a little inland due to the lake breeze. This will be coupled with light winds of 4 mph from the east, but nothing with rain. Temperatures rise through the 80s in late morning to peak at 92 by early afternoon, while inconsistent wind allows increasing urban heat. The beach is a fantastic idea for an afternoon activity as Lake Michigan currently sits at a warm 72 degrees. Just remember sunscreen!

Tonight: After a nice sunset, temperature decreases steadily into the night, dropping to 68 before the Wednesday morning commute. Winds pick up in the night, averaging 10 mph with possible gusts over 20 mph after midnight. These winds announce the arrival of a storm system, but a heavy drizzle is the worst night will see as the more potent part of the storm will start when the sun rises Wednesday.

Tomorrow: The winds of Tuesday night harbor the cold front associated with a high-pressure system. This will dominate the rest of the week with fair weather, but Wednesday is not called “hump day” for no reason. The arrival of the system from the northwest causes moderate rainfall and windy conditions for most of the day tomorrow. Models show storms to be less severe towards Milwaukee with only heavy rain, but west and south might be worse. Be careful with the morning commute! Due to rain, clouds, and the onset of cooler air before noon, the temperature will hold at 70, then fall to 64 for the night. Winds pick up even more, averaging 13 mph for the day, gusts reaching 27 mph. Air quality trackers forecast haze to enter the area, so do not expect too much of a sunset on Wednesday.

For those who are sensitive, the high-pressure system is expected to shove some of the smoke from the fires in Canada south into Wisconsin. Decreased air quality might become a topic of discussion for Wednesday into Friday, so stay up to date with forecasts.

Thursday & Friday 7/31-8/1: Thursday and Friday are quite similar in forecast. Temperatures reach low 70s during the day and calm to low 60s during the night without much cloud cover. Higher winds of 15 mph with gust occasionally exceeding 30 mph continue throughout Thursday and Friday, but Friday should see slightly calmer winds.

Weekend Preview: Saturday sees more seasonal temperatures return, as highs reach upper 70s and lows rise into the mid-60s. Clouds remain few while winds calm down. Possible rain over the weekend, but as of now, probability for precipitation remains low.
