Today: The 5-Day Weather Forecast December 18, 2025 begins rainy, windy, and in the 40s. Winds averaging 12 mph calm noticeably around noon as the rain exits to the east. For a moment, this leaves Milwaukee at a temperature within reach of 50. Afterward, temperatures plummet, winds howl, and precipitation returns. All of this commonly occurs with the passing of a well-developed low-pressure system. This contains a pronounced warm front and cold front. The warmth felt earlier quickly turns into 30s and 20s by evening as the strong cold front whips through. In conjunction with this comes high winds, gusting up to 42 mph. Riding on this wind, possibilities remain for brief, intense bursts of precipitation. If temperatures fall fast enough, a snow squall can result.

A snow squall entails high winds, dropping temperatures, and an intense burst of snowfall typically lasting less than an hour. As temperatures fall quickly from the mid-30s into the teens along this frontal passage as well, a flash freeze is looking likely and slick conditions would develop on untreated surfaces. While the chance of this weather hitting Milwaukee today is currently low, the highest chance resides in the evening. If one plans on traveling or doing activities outdoors, exercise caution and keep safety your top priority.

Tonight: High winds from the north continue through the night, sending temperatures back into the low-10s. Milwaukee might see the return of single-digit temperatures, but uncertainty still hangs over most forecasting for this system. Snowflakes whiz about occasionally during the night, only accumulating to less than a quarter inch.

Tomorrow: With Thursday’s system moved out, winds die down and clouds break apart to reveal a gorgeous sunrise. Milwaukee barely has time to enjoy the fair weather before another low-pressure system enters in the late afternoon. Similar to the last storm system but weaker, temperatures jump back up into the high-10s and trend upward through Friday. Winds increase to a steady 14 mph with gusts reaching 30 mph by the end of the day. Despite snowflakes floating around, no accumulation happens before Saturday.

Weekend Outlook: The overnight southern winds launch temperatures into the 30s Saturday morning. Winds lessen before the cold front traverses Southeastern Wisconsin in the evening. Lasting for a few hours, a wintry mix rains down from the clouds as gusts of 35 mph take to the streets. Akin to Thursday, temperatures once again reaches the low-10s Saturday night. The cold persists through Sunday. Overlooking the cool air, Sunday sees a partially cloudy sky with minimal wind. The low temperature warms into the mid-10s before the dawn of the work week.

Extended: On Monday, precipitation chances increase, but Milwaukee should stay dry while rain tracks to the north and south of us. Temperatures increase to the high-30s before retreating to the low-30s for the night. Winds pick up to a sustained 11 mph as another weather system might enter soon after. Due to disagreement between models however, precision remains low, so stay up to date with your forecasts!
