Today: Tuesday’s weather across the Milwaukee area will act as a transition day between weather makers. In the morning a departing weak low pressure system stationed up in Canada will drag a low level trough through the area early in the morning and move off to the east. Back to the west a slow moving strong dome of high pressure will begin to drop out of Canada and head our way for Wednesday and Thursday. Something I wanted to note is that there is no precipitation expected from the low level trough in the morning, but it will keep skies mostly cloudy for most of the day. Furthermore, temperatures in the morning will rise through the low 30s and a high in the upper 30s will be on tap by the afternoon. Winds will be a bit of a problem Tuesday morning through the afternoon as northwest winds will be breezy with sustained speeds between 10-15 mph and gusts could go as high as 30 mph.
Overnight: By the evening and into the overnight hours winds will stay gusty, however sustained speeds will ease a bit to around 10 mph from the northwest as temperatures take a tumble into the low 20’s for an overnight low with skies clearing.
Tomorrow: Wednesday will be an average February day across the Milwaukee area as a strong dome of high pressure approaches Wisconsin for the northwest. In the morning temperatures will be able to rise through the mid and upper 20s before topping out in the lower 30’s with a plentiful amount of sunshine. Winds will be out of the northwest all day with sustained speeds around 10-15 mph through the morning and afternoon, also gusts could be anywhere between 15-20 mph for the same period. WInds eventually will decrease in the evening and into the overnight hours where speeds will eventually go under 5 mph. Finally, temperatures overnight will settle to around 20 degrees as clouds will be on the increase which will lead to an overcast Thursday morning.
Extended: A warming trend is in store over the extended forecast as a dominant high pressure system that started its approach on Wednesday from the northwest, will move directly overhead of Wisconsin Thursday morning. With this system controlling our weather pattern winds will change to a spring-like pattern. Thursday morning will still see winds out of the northwest generally under 5 mph, but as this high pressure moves overhead by the afternoon the winds will whip around to the south-southwest still under 5mph. With south-southwest winds high temperatures will receive a slight boost Thursday with highs rising into the low 30’s with mostly overcast conditions. By the evening and into the overnight hours skies will begin to clear slowly, but despite clear skies overnight temperatures won’t fall all that much due to a constant south wind increasing a bit with speeds between 5-10 mph sustained. Friday we’ll start to see the high pressure that hung over the area Thursday move off to the south and east leaving a real warmup over Milwaukee. High temperatures could reach into the high 30’s and close to 40 degrees by the afternoon which is a good 10 degrees above average for this time of year. Winds will generally be around 5 mph still from the southwest for the majority of the with mostly sunny skies. By the evening and into the overnight hours winds will change to more of a southerly direction and increase a bit back to 5-10 mph sustained. Just like Thursday night temperatures won’t decrease all that much Friday night, settling in the upper 20’s with skies remaining clear. Saturday will be almost a repeat of Friday as the high pressure system will move farther off to the east and start to lose control over Milwaukee’s weather. However, Saturday will still feature skies remaining mostly sunny which allow temperatures to rise again to near 40 degrees thanks to a calm south-southeast wind around 5 mph sustained. By the evening and into the overnight hours winds will become barely noticeable as temperatures settle in the upper 20s again with skies remaining mostly clear.
