Today: Wednesday this mild stretch of weather will hit its pinnacle. Temperatures across the Milwaukee area will rise out of the 40’s and first half of the 50’s through the morning before finally reaching the upper 50’s to near 60 degrees for a daytime high with mostly sunny skies. Southwest winds will be on the harsh side between 15-20 mph sustained and gusts could be as high as 40 mph. These winds are due to a low pressure system passing by in northern Wisconsin. By the evening winds will start to ease, but gusty conditions will still persist.

Overnight: Winds overnight will be around 5 mph and start to turn to the east. Low temperatures overnight will only be able to cool into the low 40’s as clouds begin to build in ahead of Milwaukee’s next weather maker that will affect the area Thursday evening.

Tomorrow: The mild weather pattern will continue through Thursday because of another low pressure system that will approach Wisconsin from the southwest throughout the day. Most of the day Thursday will remain dry and mostly sunny despite this new weather maker approaching. High temperatures will top out in the middle 40’s with winds out of the east-southeast sustained around 5-10 mph with higher gusts possible as the low pressure system approaches in the afternoon. By the late evening clouds will quickly build in ahead of an occluded front attached to the aforementioned low pressure system and begin to move through. Even though there isn’t much moisture with this system, there’s an 80% chance for rain showers will be possible by 9 p.m., however less than a quarter of an inch of precipitation is possible. Furthermore, as the night goes on the low pressure system will move north and east right over the Milwaukee area. This system will begin to turn Milwaukee’s winds back around to a winter pattern and usher in some cooler air. Thursday night winds will swing from the east to the southwest and eventually to the west by Friday morning with sustained speeds around 15 mph. Depending how fast winds switch to the west, there may be a little transition into snow overnight. Since rain will fall before the snow, it won’t accumulate too much. Other weather conditions Thursday night will feature low temperatures into the middle 30’s which is just around freezing allowing for the light snow with overcast conditions.

NOAA: Low pressure system with attach occluded front that will effect Milwaukee Thursday night. Valid through 6 p.m., Thursday.

Extended: Over the course of the weekend the weather pattern will shift back to a more normal February weather conditions across the Milwaukee area. Temperatures in the mid to upper 30’s are in store for Friday and Saturday, while Sunday high will be barely to 30 degrees. Saturday and Sunday will be the nicer days out of the weekend. Friday on the other hand will be quite active. Friday morning will feature some light snow falling over the area. This is from the low pressure system that began to cut through Wisconsin Thursday night. Not much accumulation is expected and all snow will cease by mid morning. The rest of the day will feature mostly cloudy skies and breezy west winds with sustained speeds around 25-15 mph with even higher gusts for the majority of the day. Heading into the evening and overnight winds will ease to around 10 mph sustained, but gusts could still be high as winds turn to northwest. Temperatures will tumble into the mid 30’s for an overnight low with skies clearing. Saturday and Sunday will act as transition days for Milwaukee’s weather as a strong high pressure system out of Canada makes its way towards Wisconsin. Other weather conditions will feature winds out of the northwest only around 5-10 mph sustained for Saturday and 10-15 mph sustained on Sunday. Both days will feature mostly cloudy skies as well. Temperatures Saturday and Sunday will land in the low 20’s and high teens respectively. Finally, there is a 20% chance Saturday and Sunday night for some light snow showers across the area because of lake Michigan. Accumulations will be light if any and this won’t cause any disruptions in traveling.
