Today: The 5-Day Weather Forecast February 20, 2026, begins with rain and fog overshadowing the morning commute. As pressures increase quickly, winds quicken also, whipping up to 45 mph. This prompted the National Weather Service to issue a wind advisory around midnight last night. The NWS notes the high winds coupled with precipitation could rapidly deteriorate travel conditions between early morning and afternoon. Overpasses could be slippery as well, due to the cooling effects of wind and dropping temperatures. When waking up, temperatures start to drop, going from the 40s to freezing in time for the beginning of evening traffic. The slushy rain tapers off by late morning with light sprinkles lingering until end of the lunchtime rush. By 2 p.m., temperatures should be sufficiently cool enough for snow to reach the ground, but accumulation begins later.

Tonight: Moving into the night, winds die down below 30 mph, and precipitation pauses at 6 p.m. until tomorrow night. Accumulations of this heavy snow should not be more than trace amounts. While clouds slowly break, temperatures fall a few more degrees to 27 for a low.

Tomorrow: With scattered clouds dotting the pink February sky, Milwaukee wakes up to a cold weekend morning. Having been spoiled with the record-breaking high temperature of 63 on Monday this past week, we reconcile with Wisconsin winters, only reaching 33 for a high Saturday, 3 degrees below the historical average. Winds stick close to 11 mph, shoving in cool air from the northwest. Over the day, the exited low-pressure system from Friday sends some more flurries which stay until Sunday evening. Accumulation might see upwards of a half inch. Saturday night temperatures dip to 24 before the grayscale sky lightens into Sunday morning.

Sunday: Temperatures recover slightly but only hit 30 for a high. As a high-pressure dome starts influencing Southeastern Wisconsin, the winds blow the snow in the north back into the I-43 and I-94 corridors. The increased winds from the northwest and northharbor 32-mph gusts and 15-mph sustained winds. After 6 p.m., the high-pressure system enters more into the Midwest, bringing milder weather to start the week with, but not before temperatures drop to 18.

Extended: Looking at the upcoming work week, temperatures remain cold Monday with a high of 26 and low of 19 but increase dramatically to a high of 38 and low of 30 Tuesday. This is due to a strong low-pressure system flying across the Canadian border and down into the Midwest Tuesday morning. Models currently disagree about the strength and specific location but agree with potent precipitation near Milwaukee. Additionally, 14-mph winds will send warm air up from the south, so the type of this precipitation is also variable. Stay tuned for updates!
