Today: Your Saturday kicks off with rain into the morning hours. These storms are not expected to be severe, but don’t be surprised to hear a crack of thunder or two. This rain will move out by the evening and the skies should start to clear up. Temperatures for the day are expected to be ranging from the upper 60s in the morning to the lower 80s by the afternoon with winds ranging 5 to 10 mph out of the southwest. This air will be humid with dew points in the lower 70s, feeling humid and uncomfortable (see below graphic).

If air temperature and dew point temperature are close to each other, less water can evaporate, which is why in the summer on humid days, the air feels thick and your sweat doesn’t help cool you down. Relative Humidity (RH) is just how much water is in the air to how much it can hold at a given temperature given as a %. Note: high RH ≠ humid/muggy, it depends on the air temperature.

Tonight: Skies clear and the winds will calm with temps dropping. We might see some low laying areas develop fog and dew may form in most areas as RH values near 100% overnight. This will clear up as the sun rises in the morning.

Tomorrow: Sunday is looking to be about the same as Saturday, just without the rain and a bit warmer. The morning will start out in the upper 60s, warming into the mid 80s by the afternoon as clear skies allow for proper surface heating. Winds will again be out of the SW due to high pressure over the gulf states which will be transporting warmer and moist air through at least Monday, so prepare for a warm up!

Extended Forecast: Monday we see the temps climb once again into the 90s, but winds off the lake will help keep them from staying too high into the overnight. A chance of rain exists in the afternoon, but is low. Tuesday is not expected to be as warm, as a cooling trend will start with temps only getting into the lower 80s. Chances of rain most of the day into the morning hours of Wednesday where the cooling will continue only seeing a high in the mid 70s.
