Overview: The weekend ends with isolated thunderstorms Sunday. Rain chances continue in the beginning of the week with temperatures well below average, staying near 70 through the extended forecast.
Today: Sunday will be overcast and rainy. During the morning hours, temperatures will rise through the low-60s with a northeast wind around 6 mph under overcast skies. By the afternoon, a low-pressure system from the southwest makes its way northward. Milwaukee will be on the north side of this system however; this low-pressure system will create an 80% chance of showers and embedded thunderstorms throughout the rest of the day. Temperatures will be held in the mid-60s for a daytime high because of the rain and overcast skies with winds turning to the southeast around 10 mph. New precipitation amounts will range between a quarter to half of an inch.
Overnight: During the overnight hours the low-pressure system starts to move off to the east. Showers and thunderstorms will end by midnight and skies begin to clear. Temperatures will sink into the low-50s with winds turning back to the northeast around 8 mph.
Tomorrow: Monday will be dryer, but cooler than average temperatures continue. Temperatures will rise through the high-50s and low-60s during the morning with northeast winds staying constant under mostly sunny skies. Some high thin clouds fill in by the afternoon which will hold temperatures in the mid-60s for a high with northeast winds increasing to around 12 mph. Skies will clear back out in the evening and into the overnight hours. Temperatures will slide into the low-50s with winds turning to the north and easing to around 5 mph.
Tuesday: Tuesday will be a mostly dry day under mostly sunny skies. Temperatures won’t change all that much, only making it into the high-60s with east winds around 8 mph. During the overnight hours, Tuesday the next weather maker will arrive. A low-pressure system bearing a cold front will sweep through the area. With this front, a 60% chance of showers and embedded thunderstorms will start after 4 a.m. and continue into Wednesday. Besides the stormy weather winds will turn to the southwest and speeds stay consistent with lows only making down into the mid-50s.
Extended: A 50% chance of off-and-on showers and thunderstorms will continue on Wednesday as the system moves through Wisconsin. High temperatures will make it into the low-70s with southwest winds around 8 mph during the day. During the overnight, winds will shift to the west around 5 mph as temperatures sink into the mid-50s with clearing skies. Between Tuesday and Wednesday, the Milwaukee area could pick up a quarter of an inch to three-quarters of an inch of new precipitation. On Thursday, the Milwaukee area will begin to dry out. The low-pressure system that moved through Wednesday will be off to the east but will trail a low-pressure trough into Milwaukee during the day. This in turn will create a 10% chance of showers during the late afternoon. Skies will start mostly sunny, but clouds will fill in by the afternoon because of the shower chance. Besides the isolated rain chance, temperatures will rebound into the mid-70s for a high with west winds around 11 mph. Winds will ease overnight and turn to the northwest around 6 mph under clearing skies.
