Overview: Milwaukee’s 5-Day Weather Forecast March 29, 2026, begins in the high 60s until a train of low-pressure systems cause some trouble, shoving through thunderstorms and possibly snow.

Today: The only dry day in this forecast begins with overcast skies which continue until sunset. Despite the clouds, temperatures cheer up, rising into the mid-60s for a high of 62. With a stagnant low-pressure system to the west, pressures and winds decrease slowly. Southwestern gusts of 25 mph find their way into Milwaukee in the morning but slow to a sustained 10 mph around 7 p.m. Around the same time, clouds depart for the night, revealing starshine after a beautiful sunset.

Tonight: Temperatures fall to the mid-40s with the southern winds bolstering the low temperature to 46. As the winds decrease, a small low pressure breaks off and heads for Quebec. This low-pressure system determines the temperature fluctuations for Monday because of its positioning. Traveling past northern Lake Michigan, its rotation flings northern air down the “wind-highway” of the lake. When and where this aptly named ‘backdoor cold front’ arrives seems to be mid-Monday.

These backdoor cold fronts potentially cause pneumonia fronts, especially in the spring in Milwaukee. Along the lakeshore, temperatures need to drop 16 degrees within a single hour due to a low pressure passing to the northeast and be influenced by lake water temperatures. Currently, Lake Michigan is 37 degrees, a good 30 degrees below the high-60s, so there is a possibility of this Monday, at least on a small scale.

Tomorrow: Monday temperatures hit near 68 degrees in the morning without too many clouds hindering the sunshine’s influence. Clouds fill in though, as winds abruptly change to come off the lake. Along with the cold front, lakeshore communities possibly find some fog rolling in. Please be cautious when traveling, especially on the I-43 and I-794 corridors. While temperatures fall into the 40s, precipitation starts late Monday evening due to the movement of the western low pressure. Winds increase with the storm’s passing, locally gusting past 30 mph within stronger bands. Aside from the gusts, expect thunderstorms to arrive later in the night. These harbor the chance of hail, so please keep up to date with forecasts and weather alerts on Monday.

Tuesday: At some time in the morning Tuesday, storms roll out and clouds briefly break. Around then, temperatures for Tuesday reach nearly 70, only to meet a cold front sweeping across the state. Thunderstorms resume in the late morning and potentially continue into the late evening. Along with these come the possibility of hail again, gusty winds up to 40 mph, and low visibility patches. Temperatures fall into the low-40s by midnight and lower by Wednesday morning. By then, Milwaukee should have seen around an inch of rain.

Extended: Temperatures falter mid-week in the 30s. During this, Milwaukee sees a low of 30 Wednesday night which warms to a conservative 39 degrees Thursday. Winds could average 14 mph over this period from the northeast, gusting up to 40 mph. Accompanying the cold weather comes snow chances in the evening Wednesday. Thankfully, this turns into freezing rain and then rain by midnight, but Thursday might see only rain and thunder. Stay tuned for more updates as this week proves to be a wild roller coaster.
