Overview: An unsettled weather continues for a few more days Milwaukee, as Tuesday features strong isolated thunderstorms and Wednesday sees more rain, but finally, a calmer pattern takes shape.

Today: Tuesday keeps an active pattern weather-wise across the Milwaukee area. A stationary front across Southern Wisconsin begins to sag southeastward throughout Tuesday and evolves into a cold front as it swings through Milwaukee. This system ignites showers and isolated thunderstorms from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. These embedded storms may be strong to severe. Because of this, the Storm Prediction Center issued a marginal risk of severe weather, meaning these storms are isolated in coverage. However, any storm could produce hail up to ping-pong ball size and wind gusts around 60 mph. Besides the storm threat, temperatures climb out of the 40s in the morning and reach the upper 50s with overcast skies. Blustery northern winds average around 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. By the evening, showers end, leaving overcast skies. Winds turn to the northeast with an increase to a sustained 15 mph.

Overnight: Into the overnight hours, low temperatures dip into the mid-30s with winds staying from northeast around 15 mph sustained and gusts staying elevated under broken cloud cover.

Tomorrow: On Wednesday, another weather-maker arrives. A strong low-pressure system from the southwest moves northeast, bringing a trough which begins sweeping through Wisconsin in the late afternoon. Before this, skies remain overcast with winds around 14 mph from the northeast. Temperatures won’t increase much over the course of the day with highs only reaching the upper 30s. Around 4 p.m., the low-pressure system starts off with a band of light to moderate rain showers. Even though this trough likely brings most of its precipitation in the form of rain, temperatures Wednesday night and Thursday morning hover near the freezing mark, allowing some wintery mix. The Milwaukee area could pick up a new inch and a half of rain. Ice accumulations don’t look all that concerning for the area, only seeing a trace. While rain will occur, chances of any ice accumulation is only around 10%. With this in mind, be careful with Thursday morning commutes. Other weather conditions overnight Wednesday consist of winds turning to the east and increasing to 18 mph sustained. Temperatures drop into the low-30s during the overnight hours with continued rain showers.

Thursday: Unfortunately, light to moderate rain showers continue throughout the day with overcast skies. Milwaukee still gets the effect of the low-pressure system that moved late Wednesday afternoon. Winds are all over the place Thursday. The morning consists of northeast winds of 14 mph. By the afternoon, winds shift to the east, slowing to around 8 mph. Temperatures rebound back into the upper 50s for a daytime high with continuing rain showers. Into the evening and overnight, rain chances start to fade. Winds turn again, this time to the west, still around 8 mph sustained while temperatures slide down into the low 40s for an overnight low. Overcast skies begin to clear out slowly overnight.

Extended: The end of the week looks to bring a calmer weather pattern. Friday offers a short reprieve from this active weather stretch we have been trapped in. Winds on Friday come out of the west around 10 mph sustained. During the afternoon, temperatures reach the low 50s for a daytime high under mostly sunny skies. By evening, winds turn to the east increasing to 14 mph because of another incoming low-pressure system from the southwest. A 70% chance of showers arrives around 10 p.m. and lasts until Saturday morning. Temperatures bottom out in the high-30s overnight with rain showers continuing under overcast skies. Finally, Saturday rain chances stick around 80% through the mid-morning hours. New precipitation amounts for this weather-maker range from anywhere between a quarter to a half inch. Winds for the day turn to the northwest in the late afternoon around 18 mph sustained. Temperatures top out in the lower 50s for a daytime high with skies remaining overcast. In the evening and into the overnight hours, skies begin clearing and temperature sinks into the low 30s for an overnight low. Finally, Sunday weather should be a refreshing change of pace.
