Today: The 5-day Weather Forecast begins with a beautiful sunrise and temperatures quickly warming into the 70s. Morning dewpoint temperatures (‘mugginess level’) are calm versus yesterday, to a more comfortable level: 50s. Working against this, as the sun beats down, we rise to the unseasonably warm high of 82 degrees. To offset the heat, winds are expected to pick up throughout the day, averaging 6 mph with gusts of 17 mph out of the northeast. This means a cool off from the lake comes into play; expect the cool breeze to start around 2 p.m. Sadly, this also means an increase of dewpoints and cloud cover.

Tonight: Cloud cover will most likely remain until early hours of the night, holding some of the heat from the day with us. Winds should continue off the lake. Right before the sunrise for tomorrow, the temperature bottoms out at 63.

Tomorrow: The morning of Thursday does not greet the sun, but rather a light fog, lifting before 10 a.m. Temperatures become strikingly chillier, falling to a high of 76, as winds blow a little more, rising to a sustained 8 mph with gusts of 26 mph. A high-pressure system which entered from the north yesterday will sit over in the eastern Upper Peninsula while a low-pressure system develops by South Dakota. Wisconsin sees stronger winds due to something called the pressure gradient force. In short, condensed (high-pressure) air wants to flow to more open areas (low-pressure). If there is a large difference between pressures as it travels a short distance, it flows fast. Wisconsin receives the brunt of this. As the winds flow out of the east to southeast, they will also barricade the warm, southern air from infiltrating the Great Lakes. The sky increases the grayscale as clouds gather to make this day mostly cloudy.

Saturday: Milwaukee heralds in the opening days of family fun farms and pumpkin patches with rain. Thunder is possible in the morning, but loses steam over the day. Temperatures hit a high of 73 due to the low-pressure system meandering across the Midwest. Winds blow a little more than yesterday, rising to an average of 10 mph with isolated gusts of 30 mph. The rain is tempered a bit toward noon, but on and off rain stays possible. The low reaches 64 for the day.

Sunday: Sunday sees temperatures remain the same, climbing back to a high of 73. Winds slow to an average of 8 mph with gusts of 21 mph, while the main line of storms have passed. The sky takes a small step back with the clouds, giving us a day that is mostly cloudy. The day sees some occasional rain, but nothing out of the ordinary. To end the weekend, temperatures fall a small bit more to 63 compared to Saturday.

Monday, the Fall Equinox: Contrary to fall weather in the north, temperatures become noticeably warmer, lifting to a high of 76. Winds relax to an average of 6 mph with gusts of 19 mph. The sky takes another step back with the clouds, giving us a day that is partly cloudy. While rain chances plague the day, no significant storms show up as of yet, but this can change. Stay up to date with your local forecasts, as many models are conflicted at the moment. The low reaches 62.
