Today: Happy first day back at school, Panthers! Today’s weather is expected to be nearly a perfect fall semester day on Milwaukee’s lakefront. The morning begins with patchy fog dissipating, few clouds and sun shining through as temperatures sit in the mid-to-upper 60s by the time morning classes begin. By the afternoon, temperatures warm into the low 70s on campus due to a lake breeze keeping us cool. Inland areas can expect to warm into the mid-to-upper 70s through the day. As the day calms to an end, temperatures fall to the mid 60s with developing clouds into the overnight. A low pressure system is seen to be north of our area, bringing overcast skies overnight and increasing rain chances into early morning Wednesday.

Tomorrow: Milwaukee’s weather begins to trend on the cooler side with precipitation chances returning. With overcast skies, temperatures will climb through the low 60s in the morning and top out near 70 degrees during late morning with a gusty southwest wind between 5-10 mph. The low pressure system located in Canada will drag a strong cold front through the Milwaukee area. A broken line of showers and thunderstorms will move in from the northwest and progress southeast Wednesday morning. Rain chances will start by mid morning and into early afternoon however, all rain should wrap up by 4 p.m. A few rumbles of thunder are possible with this round of rain. Overcast skies will persist  for the rest of the day with now a cool gusty northwest wind gusting 5-10 mph. As the evening wears on and into the overnight hours, skies should begin to clear slowly heading into our Thursday. Temperatures should bottom out in the low 40’s and dew points will ease back into the high 30’s by day break on Thursday.

Extended Forecast (Thursday-Saturday): Thursday through Saturday will continue a fall-like weather pattern. Highs should mainly be in the mid 60’s with lows in the low 50’s to high 40’s. Another low pressure system trailing a cold front will slide through the Milwaukee area Friday morning; however, showers should wrap up by the afternoon. The weekend kicks off cooler, but sunny to continue our beginning to fall.
