Today, June 3: Summer weather returns as our next system prepares to move into the area. Temperatures will warm up into the upper 70s near the lake, but could be near 90 inland as 15-20 mph winds from the south bring in warm air. Humidity returns as well as dew points will be up near 60. Sunshine will be prevalent in the morning and early afternoon, but the sky will likely continue to look slightly hazy thanks to smoke from Canadian wildfires continuing to affect the area. Clouds will begin to move in as an approaching cold front moves in. This will bring widespread showers and a few thunderstorms into the area, some of which could be severe. Storms are expected to move through the area during the evening and early part of the night. The Storm Prediction Center has placed a marginal risk for severe storms for our area, with wind being the main hazard. Make sure to stay weather-aware today and make sure to have multiple ways to receive warnings!

Tonight: Storms continue overnight and into Wednesday. Rain totals will be between an inch and an inch-and-a-half once Tuesday is over. Temperatures will fall into the upper 50s.

Wednesday, June 4: Showers and a couple of thunderstorms continue into the early afternoon as the cold front moves off to the east. Temperatures will be cooler behind it, with highs warming up into the upper 50s near the lake. Total rain accumulation will be between an inch and an inch-and-a-half, but some totals could be higher. Clouds look to move out soon after, giving way to a little sun before nightfall. Scattered showers could pop up overnight, but no widespread rain is expected. Temperatures will fall into the low 50s.

Extended Forecast, Thursday, June 5 – Saturday, June 7: Thursday looks to be pleasant. Partly sunny skies will dominate most of the day, with a small chance of rain in the afternoon. Nothing widespread is expected. Temperatures will warm into the mid-70s inland, but likely only reach the mid-60s by the lake. Friday looks similar to Thursday, including a similar high temperature and chance of rain. Saturday looks similar yet again, but clouds seem to move in overnight.
