Today: Monday will be a nice day but, by the end we will see some rain and maybe some wet snow flakes move through the Milwaukee area. In the morning we’ll see mostly sunny skies as temperatures rise through the mid 30’s and low 40’s before topping out in the mid 40’s by the afternoon with a northwest wind with sustained speeds around 5-10 mph. By the afternoon winds will turn to the west with wind speeds staying consistent. Also skies will start to cloud over ahead of our next weather maker which is a low pressure system driving a stationary boundary that will approach from the southwest during Monday evening.
Overnight: The Milwaukee area will see a chance (80%) for rain showers and a few wet snow by 12 a.m. Also, temperatures will cool into the mid 30’s with northeast winds sustained under 5 mph with mostly cloudy conditions and precipitation continuing.
Tomorrow: Tuesday rain showers mixed with a few snow flakes in the morning will continue from Monday night thanks to a stationary front parked to the southwest of Wisconsin. Temperatures will rise through the mid 30s in the morning with overcast conditions and winds out of the east around 10 mph sustained. By the afternoon temperatures will top out in the low 40’s for a daytime high and winds will switch to the east-northeast still around 10 mph with rain showers continuing. By Tuesday evening rain showers will end and a dome of high pressure will start to approach Wisconsin from the north. Still overnight, we will be left with mostly cloudy conditions over the Milwaukee area. Winds will switch to the southeast and decrease slightly with sustained speeds between 5-10 mph which will keep temperatures in the upper 30’s for an overnight low.
Extended: Strong high pressure located in southern Ontario, Canada will be moving farther off to the east and away from Wisconsin, however it will still be close enough to control Milwaukee’s weather Wednesday. Overcast skies will be the scene over the Milwaukee area for the day. In addition to the cloudy conditions high temperatures will only be able to reach the low 40’s with a southeast wind sustained between 5-10 mph throughout the day. Overnight Wednesday, winds will ease to under 5 mph and switch to more of a southerly direction which will allow temperatures to only cool into the upper 30s for a low temperature as skies become mostly clear. A low pressure system located over the central US trailing a warm front will start to move to the northeast towards southern Wisconsin on Thursday. Also another low pressure system in upper Minnesota trailing a cold front will be moving east at the same time. Before these fronts arrive Thursday, temperatures will rise through the 40’s in the morning with mostly sunny skies and top out around 50 degrees for a daytime high as skies begin to cloud over. Winds will be mainly out of the southeast with sustained speeds between 5-10 mph throughout the day. By the afternoon the warm front attached to the low pressure system to the south will have moved enough north to clip southern Wisconsin and create a 80% chance of showers. Showers look to arrive by the mid afternoon and last late into the evening. It won’t be raining all the time but, the Milwaukee area could still see a tenth to a quarter of an inch of new precipitation. By 9 p.m., all showers will come to an end. Overnight the second aforementioned low pressure system trailing a weak cold front from Minnesota will collide with the warm front from the south. Because of the battling fronts, winds will start to turn to the northwest overnight Thursday, but remain calm with sustained speeds between 5-10 mph and temperatures will cool slightly into the mild 40s for an overnight low with overcast conditions. Friday morning the warm front will win out against the cold front which will result in more rain by the afternoon for the area. With overcast conditions temperatures will rise through the low 40’s in the morning with northeast winds around 10 mph sustained. By the late temperatures will top out in the mid 40’s for a high with winds increasing to 10-25 mph still from the northeast. Also, by afternoon more rain showers will be arriving and moving through the Milwaukee area. In the evening and overnight, overcast conditions will continue with winds staying consistent and temperatures slide down into the low 30’s for an overnight low.
