Emeritus Professor Laurie Glass manages the Center for Nursing History at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Founded in 1973, the Center for Nursing History is the largest collection of nursing memorabilia in the United States.
The Center for Nursing History has a three-pronged approach for collecting. Photographs and documents are sent to UWM’s Golda Meir Library Archives Department. Rare historical nursing books are sent to the library’s Special Collections department, which currently houses over 1,200 books.
Memorabilia like nursing uniforms and tools of the trade are sent to Glass to be catalogued and displayed in the three gallery rooms on the ground floor of Cunningham Hall. In this episode, Glass will give us an exclusive tour of each gallery room as well as her two storage rooms in the basement.
UWM Urban Spelunking is a docuseries that explores several of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s most historic buildings and locations.
UWM Center for Nursing History Gallery:

This is a superb presentation about nursing history. Laurie is one of the top (if not the top) nurse historians in the US, and UWM has benefitted from her passion for nursing. I think you should find a way to distribute this video more widely, e.g., You Tube. Nursing has been identified as the most trusted and professionally ethical discipline by the annual Gallup survey for decades now. I think this would have an audience.
