Both of Wisconsin’s football teams won big this weekend, as the Wisconsin Badgers stormed through the Kent State Golden Flashes and the Green Bay Packers knocked down the Dallas Cowboys in a battle of NFC heavyweights. Here’s an overview of the Wisconsin football victory weekend.

Taylor has career-day, Badgers remain undefeated

The no. 8 ranked Wisconsin Badgers shutout the Kent State Golden Flashes on Saturday 48-0 to improve to 5-0 on the season.

Wisconsin got off to a hot start thanks to Heisman trophy candidate Jonathan Taylor, who capped of Wisconsin’s first drive with a six yard touchdown run.

Taylor would go on to score three more times in the half. Lifting Wisconsin to a comfortable 28-0 lead going into the locker room.

Out of the break it was Taylor again. This time 48 yards to the house, recording his fifth touchdown of the game and tying Wisconsin’s single-game record for touchdowns.

Taylor and quarterback Jack Coan would both exit the game in the third quarter, not due to injury. The Badgers would go on to coast to a 48-0 victory and improve to 5-0.

Taylor’s five touchdowns helped push him to second in the nation with 12 touchdowns. He ended the afternoon with 186 rushing yards.

Not to be overlooked was the Badgers defense who recorded nine sacks on the day, including three from Zack Baun. The defense recorded their third shutout of the season.

Wisconsin will host the Michigan State Spartans this Saturday at 2:30 CST, as they look to remain unbeaten and move up in the poll.

Packers bounce back in Dallas, take sole control of first place in NFC North.

The Green Bay Packers rode four touchdowns from running back Aaron Jones on Sunday as they beat the Dallas Cowboys on the road 34-24.

Scoreless in the first, Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander picked off a pass that bounced off Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper’s hands in the red zone. The Packers drove down the field and scored via an 18-yard touchdown run by Jones.

Jones would score on the very next Packers drive as well. Giving him two early touchdowns and the Packers a 14-0 lead. Green Bay would head into halftime with a 17-0 lead, leaving the Cowboys and their faithful stunned.

In the third quarter, Aaron Jones would find the end zone twice with a Cowboys field goal coming in between the two scores. Jones had four scores halfway through the third quarter and the Packers were out in front by a dominant 31-3 score.

Dallas wouldn’t go away quietly though. They put together stops and quality offensive drives to score three unanswered touchdowns.

Down 10 with 1:44 to go, Cowboys kicker Brett Maher came on to attempt a 33-yard field goal. An onside kick would be attempted following a make.

Maher was unable to split the uprights, keeping the game a two-possession game and preventing the Cowboys a chance to kick the onside. Green Bay would go into victory formation and leave Texas with a win.

The Packers improved to 4-1 after the victory and gave them sole possession of first place in the NFC North due to a Chicago Bears loss against the Oakland Raiders.

The Packers will host the Detroit Lions next Monday night in a division battle. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. CST.
