Today: Wednesday’s forecast will bring the Milwaukee area a much needed break from our hot, humid and stormy pattern. A pair of weak cold fronts will be bisecting Wisconsin drifting in from the northwest. A weak high-pressure system that is stationed back in Iowa will sneak between these fronts on Wednesday keeping the Milwaukee area mostly dry. Despite Wednesday’s cold front, skies will be mostly sunny with high temperatures in the seasonal mid 70’s however, dew points will remain steady in the low 60’s, so it might feel slightly sticky out there. In addition, a flood warning is still in effect for the far eastern Milwaukee county until further notice because the Milwaukee river is still at flood stage from the torrential rains over last weekend. Finally, with Canadian wildfires ongoing some of that smoke will make its way back into the state as the day goes on. An air quality advisory may be issued for the Milwaukee area as the air quality will decrease into moderate-to-unhealthy for sensitive groups as we approach Thursday morning.
Overnight: Clear skies should hold overnight Wednesday allowing low temperatures dipping down into the low 60’s with dew points hovering right around 60 degrees. Winds will be light but turn to the east from the passing of the cold front during the day.
Tomorrow: High pressure will be the story on your Thursday. With this system, sunshine and clear skies will dominate. There may be a little haze with the sunshine on your Thursday, due to our winds drawing from the east-northeast and with Canadian wildfires still funneling in, but coming to an end by late afternoon. An air quality advisory still may be in effect for the Milwaukee area, yet the air quality will begin to get better. Besides the smoke, high temperatures should top out in the high 70’s with dew points increasing slightly into the mid 60’s during the mid morning. However, as the day goes they should decrease back into the low 60’s. Finally, aforementioned the wind will be out of the east still on the light end only gusting 5-10 mph.
Extended: Get ready for a hot, humid and stormy weather pattern for the weekend ahead. This pattern kicks off Friday with a high pressure system off to our northeast still giving us fairly clear skies throughout the day, but our winds shift southerly. High temperatures will rise into the low 80’s and dew points will slowly climb into the upper 60s throughout and into Friday evening. Lows will only reach the low 70’s Friday night with clear skies and rising dew points. By Saturday morning a line of decaying thunderstorms looks to approach the Milwaukee area. Models are in disagreement with timing and how intense these thunderstorms are going to be, so please keep checking back for more updates. Saturday looks to be the hottest and most humid day of the weekend. High temperatures should soar into the upper 80’s and dew points look to increase into the mid 70’s, which will make it feel very uncomfortable out. Skies become partly cloudy Saturday night as low temperatures bottoming out in the low 70s. Sunday will feature more rounds of showers, but more isolated in nature this time. Overcast skies will cause high temperatures look to moderate, settling into the low 80’s as dew points stay in the tropical mid 70’s. An easterly wind shift will allow for some relief as overnight lows tumble down into the upper 60’s with skies beginning to clear from any left over showers.
