Today: A strong upper air disturbance looks to bring more snow chances by early afternoon on our New Year’s Eve. We’ll start the day with overcast skies, breezy and temperatures around 20 degrees before snow builds in for the afternoon. Snow looks to arrive around 11 or 12 p.m. and maintains at a steady rate until clearing around 4 p.m. Snow accumulations look to reach around 0.5 inch during the event. Temperatures in Milwaukee look to reach a high near 25 degrees, before a cold front makes an appearance.

Tonight: Behind the snowfall event, the cold front will sweep through to set the tone for the rest of the evening. As snow calms, temperatures will drop significantly to around 8 degrees as a low with clearing skies for the night.
Tomorrow: New Year’s Day begins the cold and dry pattern for the remainder of the week. The sun returns tomorrow, with partly sunny skies to kick off the New Year. High temperatures look to barely reach 20 degrees as the colder air mass continues to occupy the area. Cloud cover grows into the evening as temperatures fall to a low around 13 degrees overnight.
Extended: Calm weather continues for the rest of the week and into Sunday. A northwest wind flow takes hold allowing Friday and Saturday to be similar in temperatures. Highs look to sit around the low 20s with sunshine appearing throughout the day. Low temperatures fall in the teens overnight with clouds lingering. High pressure builds in on Sunday, causing high temperatures to bump up around 30 degrees. As this pressure system moves southeast, the southerly wind flow creates a chance for snow showers on Sunday evening. Positioning and exact timing are unclear, where snow looks likely on the Illinois/Wisconsin state border.
