Today: Monday will start a week-long warm up trend. This will all be made possible by a stationary front which will hang over Wisconsin Monday. Connected to the front are a couple of weak low pressure systems with one parked in the upper U.P. and the other two out west. The two low pressures out west will join and make their way through Wisconsin Tuesday morning. However, as this stationary front is in place over the Milwaukee area Monday, skies will remain overcast with a small chance (about 10%) of a shower turning the day. Temperatures will reach the mid 30’s for a day time high which is far above average for this time of year. Winds during the day will be out of the west with sustained speeds of 5-10 mph throughout the day.
Overnight: By the evening and into the overnight hours winds will gradually turn to the south with speeds slowing to around 5 mph sustained. Also, with overcast conditions persisting and a south wind we’ll see lows cooling into the low 30’s for the overnight hours.
Tomorrow: Tuesday will continue the warming and overcast trend across the Milwaukee area as two low pressures out of the west will combine and approach Wisconsin from the southwest and then move east and traverse the Wisconsin/Illinois border. Ahead of the low pressure system will lie a chance for some mixed precipitation (40%) which could affect the area during the morning hours Tuesday. By the early afternoon all precipitation should end with the expectation of a left over stray shower. At this time it is hard to tell what kind of precip will be falling, but it is possible there might be some freezing rain falling during the Tuesday morning commute so, take a few moments to get to your destination Wednesday morning. Other weather conditions on Tuesday will feature high temperatures in the upper 30’s with northwest winds from 5-10 mph sustained. By the evening and into the overnight hours, the low pressure system will have moved far off to the east and winds will turn to more of a westerly direction now around 10 mph sustained. Overcast conditions will continue Tuesday night, but lows will be able to cool down into the low 30’s for an overnight low because of the new west winds which will be short-lived.
Extended: The extended forecast looks quite active over the Milwaukee area. Warming trends will continue through Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Also a strong low pressure system will affect the Milwaukee area Thursday night through Friday and part of Saturday. It is too early to get into specifics, but it looks like a low pressure system will work its way into Wisconsin from the south Friday night and continue to move north and east throughout Friday and into Saturday. The system could bring showers to the Milwaukee area Thursday night and into Friday morning. Then Friday night a band of thunderstorms or at least heavy rain could make its way into the Milwaukee area, but models have been very different with the track of this system, however, stay tuned for further updates on this weather maker. As aforementioned, high temperatures through Friday will remain in the low 40s, with low only making down into the upper 30s. Wednesday will really only be the calm day out of the week as a high pressure system from the southeast will barely hold for a day and produce mostly sunny skies Wednesday. Southwest winds will begin in the morning with sustained speeds between 5-10 mph, but throughout the day will become more southerly Wednesday evening through Thursday day. Winds will go to the north again, but not before that aforementioned strong low pressure system works its way through Wisconsin.
