On Sunday, Tiger Woods made his historic PGA Tour return since severely injuring his right leg in a car crash in February, 2021.

He was not sure if he was going to play, but earlier in the week the 46-year-old announced that he would be competing at the 86th Masters Tournament at Augusta National in Georgia.

Woods knew walking the course for four days would be physically challenging with the drastic changes of elevation. Throughout the rounds, he sometimes used a club for support and struggled to bend over to read the greens.

He still made the cut after shooting 1-under on Thursday and 2-over Friday, beating some of the biggest names in golf including Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka and Bryson Dechambeau.

Despite his attempt to win his 16th major championship and sixth green jacket, he had his worst two rounds on Saturday and Sunday shooting a six-over-par 78 both days.

Woods finished strong as he walked up the last hole. He smiled at the crowd as they cheered.

“It was an unbelievable feeling, to have the patrons and the support out there,” said Woods. “I wasn’t exactly playing my best out there, but just to have the support out there and the appreciation from all the fans. I don’t think words can really describe that given where I was a little over a year ago and what my prospects were at the time to end up here and be able to play all four rounds. Even a month ago I didn’t know if I could pull this off.”

He finished 13 over par in 47th out of 91 golfers. It was an impressive weekend for Woods even if it was not the ending he was hoping for. Woods said he will never play a full golf schedule again, just the big events. He does not know if he will be playing in the PGA Championship at Southern Hills in May.

“I will try and get ready for Southern Hills, and we’ll see what this body is able to do,” said Woods.

However, Woods confirmed on Sunday that he will play at the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews, Scotland in July.

“That is something that is near and dear to my heart,” said Woods. “I’ve won two opens there. It’s the home of golf. It’s my favorite golf course in the world so I will be there for that one.”
